Nephrotoxic Drugs
Why this applies to Levofloxacin
Levofloxacin falls under Nephrotoxic Drugs — the group Asian Water Plantain interacts with.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the gist for levofloxacin: this is an antibiotic your kidneys help clear from your body, and in rare cases it can be a little hard on the kidneys itself. Asian water plantain (Ze Xie) was traditionally used as a diuretic, and in very high-dose animal studies its triterpenoid compounds (alisol A and B) showed signs of possible kidney stress. The worry is simply about stacking two things that may bother the kidneys at the same time.
That said, this is rated a minor and unlikely interaction. The concerning effects only showed up at huge doses in lab animals, not in people taking normal amounts. Still, while you're on a course of levofloxacin, it's worth staying well hydrated and checking with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this supplement.

- Kidney and bladder support
Asian water plantain (Ze Xie) is a rhizome long used in traditional Chinese medicine, mainly as a diuretic and for fluid retention.
