Aspartic Acid and Vancomycin Hydrochloride

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Vancomycin Hydrochloride and Aspartic Acid in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Aspartic Acid at all — not against Vancomycin Hydrochloride, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Vancomycin Hydrochloride. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 65,520 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Vancomycin Hydrochloride that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Aspartic Acid’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Aspartic Acid side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Aspartic Acid has no side effects.

Aspartic Acid in Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Pregnancy And Lactation Likely Safe

When used orally in amounts found in foods.

Pregnancy And Lactation Possibly Unsafe

When aspartic acid is used orally. In rodents, aspartic acid given orally within a few days of birth caused neuronal necrosis in the hypothalamus. This adverse effect was not seen in nonhuman newborn primates and has not been assessed in humans. Until more data is available, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) and the Food and Nutrition Board advise that pregnant or breast-feeding women avoid the use of aspartic acid.

About Aspartic Acid

What is Aspartic Acid?

Aspartic Acid
  • Testosterone support
  • Athletic performance and muscle building
  • Energy and endurance
  • General amino acid supplementation

Aspartic acid is a common amino acid your body makes on its own and gets from protein-rich foods, so a true deficiency is rare. D-aspartic acid is heavily marketed for boosting testosterone and athletic performance, but the evidence is mixed and many studies show little or no lasting benefit. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using high-dose supplements.

Amino acid (made in the body and found in protein-rich foods) · Capsules, tablets, powders (D-aspartic acid and L-aspartic acid), found in protein supplements

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Aspartic Acid is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Aspartic Acid record says about it on its own.

Aspartic Acid: dosing

There is no official or standardized dose of aspartic acid for any health purpose. Doses used in studies of D-aspartic acid have varied, and the best amount (if any) is not established.Because dosing is uncertain, the safest approach is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed them. More is not necessarily better, and very high doses may not help and could even work against you.

About Vancomycin

What Is Vancomycin Used For?

Brand name: Firvanq

Vancomycin is used to fight serious bacterial infections caused by certain hard-to-treat bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). When given intravenously (by IV), it treats conditions like septicemia (a serious bloodstream infection), infective endocarditis (infection of the heart valves), skin and skin structure infections, bone infections, and lower respiratory tract infections.

When taken by mouth — as capsules or oral solution (brands include Vancocin and Firvanq) — vancomycin treats Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea (C. diff) and staphylococcal enterocolitis (a gut infection caused by Staphylococcus aureus). It's important to know that the oral form does not work for bloodstream or other serious infections, and the IV form does not work for C. diff or gut infections — each route has its own specific uses.
