Here's the thing to keep in mind with Tecvayli (teclistamab). It's a powerful antibody therapy for multiple myeloma that works by directing your own T-cells to attack cancer cells. Astragalus, on the other hand, is traditionally used to stimulate the immune system. The concern is that these two could pull in different directions and that astragalus might, in theory, blunt or interfere with how a carefully managed immune treatment is supposed to work.

I'll be honest about the evidence here: this is a theoretical worry based on lab and animal studies, not on people taking these two together. We just don't have human data. Still, with a serious therapy like this, I'd lean cautious. Please don't start astragalus without first running it by your oncologist or pharmacist, who knows your full treatment plan.

What Is Teclistamab-cqyv Injection Used For?

Brand name: Tecvayli

Tecvayli (teclistamab-cqyv) injection is used to treat adults with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma — a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow — whose disease has come back or stopped responding to earlier treatments.

Tecvayli is approved in two settings: as monotherapy for patients who have received at least four prior lines of therapy (including a proteasome inhibitor, an immunomodulatory agent, and an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody); and in combination with daratumumab and hyaluronidase-fihj for patients who have received at least one prior line of therapy including a proteasome inhibitor and an immunomodulatory agent.
