Here's the gist for Tecvayli (teclistamab). This is a powerful cancer medicine for multiple myeloma that works by redirecting your immune system's T-cells to attack myeloma cells. Alfalfa supplements contain compounds that, at least in lab studies and a few case reports, may gently stimulate or rev up the immune system. The concern here is theoretical: in theory, an immune-stimulating supplement could pull in a different direction than a carefully managed cancer immunotherapy, though we don't have real-world evidence showing this actually changes how Tecvayli works.

Because Tecvayli is such a serious, closely monitored treatment, I'd play it safe and skip alfalfa supplements while you're on it. Please run it by your oncology team or pharmacist first, rather than starting or stopping anything on your own. Food amounts of alfalfa sprouts are a smaller worry than concentrated supplement doses.

What Is Teclistamab-cqyv Injection Used For?

Brand name: Tecvayli

Tecvayli (teclistamab-cqyv) injection is used to treat adults with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma — a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow — whose disease has come back or stopped responding to earlier treatments.

Tecvayli is approved in two settings: as monotherapy for patients who have received at least four prior lines of therapy (including a proteasome inhibitor, an immunomodulatory agent, and an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody); and in combination with daratumumab and hyaluronidase-fihj for patients who have received at least one prior line of therapy including a proteasome inhibitor and an immunomodulatory agent.
