Here's the gist with Farxiga (dapagliflozin) and black mustard. This isn't about how your body breaks down the drug. Instead, the thought is that concentrated black mustard seed extracts might lower blood sugar on their own. Stack that on top of a medicine that already lowers blood sugar, and in theory the two could add up and push your levels too low.

Honestly, this is a theoretical concern based mostly on animal studies, not real-world reports in people. Using mustard as a spice on your food is very unlikely to do anything. If you were taking concentrated mustard seed supplements, just keep an eye out for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy, and check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Dapagliflozin Used For?

Brand name: Farxiga

Dapagliflozin is used for several serious conditions. It helps improve blood sugar control in adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes (alongside diet and exercise). It also reduces the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors.

Farxiga (dapagliflozin) is additionally approved to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalization, and urgent visits due to heart failure in adults with heart failure — and to slow the progression of chronic kidney disease, including reducing the risk of kidney failure and cardiovascular death, in adults with chronic kidney disease at risk of getting worse.
