Dapagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Agaricus Mushroom interacts with.

Theoretically, taking agaricus mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In one clinical study in patients with type 2 diabetes who are stabilized on conventional oral hypoglycemic agents, 3 of 29 patients taking an agaricus mushroom extract 500 mg three times daily for 12 weeks reported hypoglycemia, compared to one of 29 patients in the placebo group.

Here's the gist: Agaricus mushroom may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. When you stack that on top of dapagliflozin (Farxiga), which already works to bring your sugar down, the two together could nudge your glucose lower than you intend. In a small 12-week study, a few more people taking the mushroom extract reported low blood sugar than those on placebo, so this is a real but modest signal.

To be fair, this concern is mostly theoretical and the evidence is thin. Dapagliflozin by itself rarely causes serious lows. Still, watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy, especially if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea. Don't change anything on your own. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before adding the mushroom.

What Is Dapagliflozin Used For?

Dapagliflozin is used for several serious conditions. It helps improve blood sugar control in adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes (alongside diet and exercise). It also reduces the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors.

Farxiga (dapagliflozin) is additionally approved to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalization, and urgent visits due to heart failure in adults with heart failure — and to slow the progression of chronic kidney disease, including reducing the risk of kidney failure and cardiovascular death, in adults with chronic kidney disease at risk of getting worse.
