Metformin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Agaricus Mushroom interacts with.

Theoretically, taking agaricus mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In one clinical study in patients with type 2 diabetes who are stabilized on conventional oral hypoglycemic agents, 3 of 29 patients taking an agaricus mushroom extract 500 mg three times daily for 12 weeks reported hypoglycemia, compared to one of 29 patients in the placebo group.

Here's the gist: Agaricus mushroom may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. When you stack that on top of metformin, the two could add up and push your sugar lower than expected. In one small study, a few people taking an Agaricus extract reported low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), though the difference from placebo was tiny.

What this means for you day to day: watch for the usual signs of a sugar dip, like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, sudden hunger, or feeling foggy. To be honest, this is mostly theoretical and based on how the mushroom behaves, not strong proof. Metformin alone rarely causes lows. If you'd like to try the supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your readings.

Metformin is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is always used together with diet and exercise, not instead of them.

Metformin hydrochloride tablets and oral solution are approved for adults and children 10 years and older. Metformin hydrochloride extended-release tablets — including brands such as Fortamet, Glumetza, and Metformin Hydrochloride Extended Release — are approved for adults only.
