Glimepiride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Agaricus Mushroom interacts with.

Theoretically, taking agaricus mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In one clinical study in patients with type 2 diabetes who are stabilized on conventional oral hypoglycemic agents, 3 of 29 patients taking an agaricus mushroom extract 500 mg three times daily for 12 weeks reported hypoglycemia, compared to one of 29 patients in the placebo group.

Here's the gist: glimepiride already does a good job of lowering your blood sugar by nudging your pancreas to release more insulin. Agaricus mushroom may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own, so stacking the two together could, in theory, push your sugar a little too low. That's called hypoglycemia, and with glimepiride it can show up as shakiness, sweating, dizziness, hunger, a fast heartbeat, or confusion.

I want to keep this in perspective. This concern is mostly theoretical, and in one small study only a few people taking concentrated agaricus extract reported low sugar. A bit of mushroom in your dinner is unlikely to matter much; daily supplement doses are the real question. If you'd like to try it, check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your blood sugar readings.

Glimepiride tablets are used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is always used together with a healthy diet and regular exercise — not as a standalone treatment.

Glimepiride is not appropriate for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication where the body produces high levels of blood acids called ketones), as it would not work in those situations.
