Meloxicam falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Black Seed interacts with.

Theoretically, black seed might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
In vitro research suggests that thymoquinone, a constituent of black seed, can decrease the metabolism of phenytoin by a mechanism possibly related to the inhibition of CYP2C9. The effect of black seed on CYP2C9 is unclear. This has not been shown in humans.

Here's the simple version: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2C9 to clear meloxicam. Black seed (specifically its compound thymoquinone) might slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happens, meloxicam could hang around longer than usual and its effects could be a touch stronger than expected. Meloxicam is an NSAID, so the side effects to watch for would be things like stomach upset, heartburn, fluid retention, higher blood pressure, or in rare cases stomach irritation or bleeding.

I want to be honest about how shaky this evidence is. It comes only from lab studies, not from people, and the effect on CYP2C9 isn't even clearly established. A little black seed as a kitchen spice is very unlikely to matter. If you're taking concentrated supplement doses, just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up first.

What Is Meloxicam Used For?

Brand names: Mobic, Vivlodex, Qmiiz ODT, Anjeso

Meloxicam is used to relieve the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Some oral forms are also used for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

Not every product is approved for every use. Meloxicam capsules are indicated only for osteoarthritis pain. The intravenous injections Qamzova and Xifyrm are used in adults for moderate-to-severe pain, alone or with non-NSAID pain relievers.
