Theoretically, taking black seed with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Clinical research suggests that black seed powder and oil might reduce blood pressure by 2-3 mmHg. In animal research, black seed modestly reduces blood pressure and concomitant use of black seed and amlodipine (Norvasc) or metoprolol (Lopressor) increased the blood pressure lowering effects of these drugs.

Here's the simple version: black seed appears to nudge blood pressure down on its own, usually a small drop of about 2 to 3 mmHg. Propranolol already lowers your blood pressure and slows your heart rate, so stacking the two could add up. The concern is the combined effect, not black seed changing how your body breaks the drug down.

If your pressure or heart rate dips too low, you might feel lightheaded, tired, dizzy when standing, or notice a slower pulse. Keep in mind this is mostly theoretical and based on lower-quality studies, and food-amount spices in cooking are unlikely to matter. Concentrated supplement doses are the bigger question. Before adding a black seed supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Propranolol (Cardiovascular) Used For?

Brand names: Inderal LA, Inderal, Angilol, Syprol, Inderal Injection, Half-Inderal LA, Bedranol SR, Half Beta Prograne, Beta Prograne, Lopranol LA, Slo-Pro, InnoPran XL

This intravenous (IV) form of propranolol is used in hospital or clinical settings to treat dangerous heart rhythm problems. It is generally reserved for life-threatening arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms) or those that occur during anesthesia.

Specific conditions it treats include fast heart rates coming from the upper chambers of the heart (supraventricular tachycardia), certain arrhythmias caused by digitalis toxicity, dangerous ventricular rhythms that haven't responded to other treatments, and fast heart rates caused by excess adrenaline-like substances during surgery.
