Theoretically, taking black seed with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Clinical research suggests that black seed powder and oil might reduce blood pressure by 2-3 mmHg. In animal research, black seed modestly reduces blood pressure and concomitant use of black seed and amlodipine (Norvasc) or metoprolol (Lopressor) increased the blood pressure lowering effects of these drugs.

Here's the simple version: black seed has a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect of its own, usually only about 2 to 3 mmHg in studies. Verapamil already relaxes your blood vessels and slows your heart rate, so layering black seed on top could nudge your pressure down a little more than expected.

If your blood pressure drops too far, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or get a headache, especially when you stand up quickly. The good news is the evidence here is on the weaker side and the effect is small. Cooking with black seed as a spice is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated supplement doses are what to watch. Before adding a black seed supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your readings.

What Is Verapamil Used For?

Brand names: Isoptin SR, Verelan, Isoptin, Calan SR, Verelan SR, Calan, Covera HS, Verap, Veramil

Verapamil tablets and film-coated tablets are used to treat angina — including vasospastic (Prinzmetal's) angina, unstable angina, and chronic stable angina — as well as certain abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) and high blood pressure (essential hypertension). For arrhythmias, regular-release tablets are used alongside digoxin to control heart rate in atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation, and to help prevent episodes of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), a type of rapid heartbeat.

Extended-release and sustained-release oral forms (tablets and capsules) are indicated specifically for high blood pressure. Verapamil hydrochloride injection is used in hospital settings for rapid conversion of SVT to normal rhythm and for temporary control of fast heart rates in atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation.
