Here's the honest picture with black seed and Rituxan (rituximab). Rituximab is an antibody medicine that purposely lowers part of your immune system to treat lymphoma, leukemia, or rheumatoid arthritis. Black seed has been studied for its effects on the immune system, but the lab and animal results pull in both directions: some suggest it revs the immune system up, others suggest it calms it down. So the concern is mostly theoretical.

If black seed nudged your immune system the opposite way of your treatment, it could in theory blunt how well Rituxan works. There's no solid human proof of this, and food-level use of black seed as a spice is unlikely to matter much. Still, since this is a serious therapy, please run any black seed supplement past your oncologist, rheumatologist, or pharmacist first.

What Is Rituximab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Rituxan

Rituximab is used to treat a range of blood cancers and immune-driven diseases. In cancer care, it targets certain types of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) — both in adults and, for some lymphomas, in children as young as 6 months old.

Beyond cancer, rituximab is also approved for moderately-to-severely active Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) in adults who haven't responded well to other treatments, as well as for two rare inflammatory blood vessel diseases — Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (GPA) and Microscopic Polyangiitis (MPA) — and for a serious skin blistering condition called Pemphigus Vulgaris (PV).
