Sitaxsentan sodium falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Blue Cohosh interacts with.

Constituents in blue cohosh might increase blood pressure by causing coronary vasoconstriction. Theoretically, concomitant use might decrease the effectiveness of drugs used for angina and high blood pressure; use with caution. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Sitaxsentan (Thelin) works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels in your lungs to lower the high pressure that strains your heart. Here's the concern with blue cohosh: some of its plant compounds may do the opposite, tightening blood vessels and nudging blood pressure up. In theory, that could work against what sitaxsentan is trying to do and make it less effective.

I want to be honest that this warning is theoretical, based on how these compounds behave in the lab, not on real cases in people taking this exact drug. Still, since sitaxsentan treats a serious heart and lung condition, I wouldn't gamble with it. Please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before combining the two, and don't change your medication on your own.
