Bogbean and Aluminum Hydroxide, Aspirin, Magnesium Hydroxide

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Aluminum Hydroxide, Aspirin, Magnesium Hydroxide and Bogbean in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Bogbean at all — not against Aluminum Hydroxide, Aspirin, Magnesium Hydroxide, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Aluminum Hydroxide, Aspirin, Magnesium Hydroxide page

“Ascriptin combines aspirin with two antacids, aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide, and the aspirin part already thins the blood on its own. That is why more than 200 of the 255 ingredients listed here can raise bleeding risk, and why this page deserves a careful read rather than a quick skim.”

About Bogbean

What is Bogbean?

  • Rheumatoid arthritis and joint pain
  • Poor appetite and digestive upset
  • Bitter tonic
  • Scurvy (traditional)
  • Fever (traditional)

Bogbean is a wetland plant whose bitter leaves have long been used in folk medicine for joint pain, poor appetite, and digestion. Good-quality human studies are lacking, so its benefits are unproven, and large amounts can upset the stomach. Talk with a pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Menyanthes trifoliata · Menyanthaceae · Leaves (and sometimes the roots/rhizome) · Tea, tincture, liquid extract, capsules, dried herb

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Bogbean is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Bogbean record says about it on its own.

Bogbean: dosing

There is no well-established, standardized dose for bogbean. Traditional use typically involves small amounts of the dried leaf as a tea or a measured dose of tincture or extract.Because strengths vary widely between products, the safest approach is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed the recommended amount. More is not better with this bitter herb, since larger doses are more likely to cause stomach upset.

About Aspirin

What Is Aspirin Used For?

Brand name: Ascriptin

Aspirin is used to temporarily relieve minor aches and pains from headaches, backaches, muscle aches, toothaches, menstrual cramps, the common cold, and minor arthritis pain. It also temporarily reduces fever.

Some coated aspirin tablet products note that, under a doctor's supervision, aspirin can help prevent another heart attack or stroke in adults who have already had one. Because of their delayed-release design, those coated products will not give fast relief for headaches or other symptoms needing quick relief.
