Brickellia + Caffeine (prescription drug)
Caffeine (prescription drug) brand names: Dextrophin, Caffeine.
We found no known interaction between Brickellia and Caffeine (prescription drug) in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Brickellia and Caffeine (prescription drug)
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Caffeine (prescription drug) and Brickellia in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Caffeine (prescription drug)
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Caffeine (prescription drug) is filed under 7 classifications — including methylxanthines, stimulant drugs, cytochrome p450 1a2 (cyp1a2) substrates. Brickellia has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being antidiabetes drugs (moderate) — and none of Caffeine (prescription drug)’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Ephedra (major), Grapefruit (major), Peyote (major) and Rauvolfia Vomitoria (major).
By severity: 7 major · 155 moderate · 46 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Caffeine (prescription drug) page
“Prescription caffeine is itself a stimulant, which is exactly why this list calls for genuine care rather than a quick skim. Seven of the 208 ingredients on file are rated major, and those deserve attention first.”

About Brickellia
What is Brickellia?
- Blood sugar support (diabetes)
- Digestive complaints
- Gallbladder and bile flow
- Colds and fever
Brickellia, often sold under names like 'prodigiosa' or as a Mexican folk remedy for diabetes, is a plant in the daisy family traditionally brewed as a tea. Scientific evidence in humans is very limited, so its effectiveness and long-term safety are not well established. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you take medicines for blood sugar.

Brickellia: dosing
There is no established standardized dose for Brickellia. Traditional use is usually as a tea made from the dried leaves and flowering tops, but the strength of homemade preparations varies widely. If you choose to use a commercial product, follow the directions on the label and do not exceed them.

About Caffeine
What Is Caffeine Used For?
Brand names: Dextrophin, Caffeine
Caffeine citrate injection and oral solution are used for the short-term treatment of apnea of prematurity. This means pauses in breathing in premature infants. The label lists the age range as infants between 28 weeks and a later gestational age, and that range is cut off in the text provided.
Over-the-counter caffeine tablets, such as Diurex and the Stay Awake products, are taken by mouth by adults and older children. Their labels point to fatigue and drowsiness. Diurex directions also mention taking it while symptoms persist.
