Dasiglucagon Hydrochloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Brickellia interacts with.

Preliminary research in animal models shows that brickellia and its constituents have hypoglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking brickellia with drugs that decrease blood glucose levels might increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's something a little unusual about this pairing. Brickellia tea may gently lower blood sugar, at least in early animal studies. But dasiglucagon (Zegalogue) is the opposite kind of medicine. It's an emergency rescue shot that raises blood sugar fast when someone with diabetes drops dangerously low. So Brickellia isn't going to make dasiglucagon dangerously strong. If anything, a blood-sugar-lowering tea works against what your rescue injection is trying to do.

The bigger picture is that this interaction is theoretical and only based on lab and animal data, so don't be alarmed. Just remember that if you're prone to low blood sugar, a sugar-lowering supplement on top of your diabetes routine could make those lows more likely in the first place. Please run Brickellia by your pharmacist or doctor before trying it.

What Is Dasiglucagon Injection Used For?

Brand name: Zegalogue

Zegalogue (dasiglucagon) is used to treat severe hypoglycemia — dangerously low blood sugar — in adults and children aged 6 years and older who have diabetes. It is a rescue medication meant to be used in emergencies when a person cannot eat or drink to raise their blood sugar on their own.

Zegalogue is available as a subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injection and is given by a caregiver or the patient themselves as soon as severe hypoglycemia is recognized. Emergency medical help should be called immediately after using it.
