Ertugliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Brickellia interacts with.

Preliminary research in animal models shows that brickellia and its constituents have hypoglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking brickellia with drugs that decrease blood glucose levels might increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the simple version: Brickellia tea may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. Since ertugliflozin (Steglatro) already works to bring your sugar down by flushing extra glucose out through your urine, drinking this tea on top of it could, in theory, push your blood sugar lower than intended. That's where the concern lies.

I want to be honest about the evidence, though. This warning comes only from lab and animal studies, not from people, so it's more of a 'be aware' than a 'be alarmed.' If you do try it, keep an eye out for signs of low sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it, and don't change your ertugliflozin on your own.
