Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Canagliflozin
Canagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Brickellia interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Brickellia (sometimes sold as prodigiosa) and canagliflozin. The folk remedy itself may gently lower blood sugar, and canagliflozin already lowers it by pushing extra sugar out through your urine. Stack the two and, in theory, your numbers could drop lower than you intend. That can show up as shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy and weak.
I want to be honest about the evidence though: this concern comes only from animal and lab studies, not solid human trials, so it's more of a 'keep an eye out' than a red alert. Canagliflozin on its own rarely causes serious lows. Still, please check in with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this tea, and keep monitoring your blood sugar if you do.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Canagliflozin page
“Canagliflozin (Invokana) lowers blood sugar, and that is precisely why this list deserves genuine care. Nearly every ingredient on it works on glucose one way or another: most can push it too low when stacked with the drug, while a few, niacin among them, raise it and work against the medicine.”

About Brickellia
What is Brickellia?
- Blood sugar support (diabetes)
- Digestive complaints
- Gallbladder and bile flow
- Colds and fever
Brickellia, often sold under names like 'prodigiosa' or as a Mexican folk remedy for diabetes, is a plant in the daisy family traditionally brewed as a tea. Scientific evidence in humans is very limited, so its effectiveness and long-term safety are not well established. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you take medicines for blood sugar.
About Canagliflozin
What Is Canagliflozin Used For?
