Lumiracoxib falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Buchu interacts with.

Buchu contains pulegone, a known hepatotoxin. There is some concern that buchu may adversely affect the liver, especially when the leaf is used in large doses or the oil is ingested. Theoretically, concomitant use with hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of liver damage. Here's the thing to keep in mind if you're pairing buchu with lumiracoxib (Prexige). Lumiracoxib is a COX-2 anti-inflammatory that has its own history of being hard on the liver, which is actually why it was pulled from many markets. Buchu leaves contain a compound called pulegone that can also be tough on liver cells, especially if you're swallowing the essential oil or taking large, concentrated doses.

So the worry here is simple: two things that each can stress the liver, stacked together. Watch for signs like yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, nausea, or unusual tiredness. To be honest, this concern is theoretical, based on how these ingredients behave, not on solid studies. Still, please check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.
