Buteyko Breathing Technique and Nafcillin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Nafcillin and Buteyko Breathing Technique in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Buteyko Breathing Technique alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Buteyko Breathing Technique at all — not against Nafcillin, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Buteyko Breathing Technique is a practice rather than something you take. Ask your care team whether the type and intensity you plan to practice are appropriate for your health and treatment. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Nafcillin page

“Anyone on nafcillin (Nallpen) is usually fighting a serious staph infection, and that makes this a time to be genuinely careful with supplements. Of the 58 with a known interaction on file, the two rated major, Siberian cocklebur and asarabacca, both stress the kidneys and could compound damage while you are being treated.”

About Buteyko Breathing Technique

What is Buteyko Breathing Technique?

  • Asthma symptom control
  • Reducing reliever inhaler use
  • Snoring and mild sleep-disordered breathing
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Chronic hyperventilation or breathlessness

The Buteyko Breathing Technique is a set of breathing exercises that focus on slow, gentle, nasal breathing and reduced breathing volume. Some studies suggest it may help people with asthma feel they have better symptom control and use their reliever inhaler less, but it does not improve lung function and is not a replacement for prescribed asthma medicine. It is generally low-risk, but you should always continue your usual treatment and check with your doctor before making changes.

Buteyko Breathing Technique: dosing

Programs usually involve learning a set of exercises and practicing them regularly each day, often over several weeks. The best approach is to learn from a trained Buteyko instructor or a reputable program, and follow their guidance on how often and how long to practice.

About Nafcillin Injection

What Is Nafcillin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Nallpen

NAFCILLIN Injection is used to treat infections caused by staphylococci — specifically strains that produce an enzyme called penicillinase, which makes them resistant to regular penicillin. Susceptibility testing is performed to confirm the bacteria will respond to nafcillin before or shortly after starting treatment.

Nafcillin may also be started right away when a resistant staph infection is strongly suspected, even before test results are available. It should not be used for infections caused by bacteria that would respond to standard penicillin G, or for infections caused by non-staph organisms.
