What Is Setmelanotide Injection Used For?

Brand name: Imcivree

Imcivree is used to reduce excess body weight and maintain that weight loss long-term in adults and children with certain rare, specific causes of obesity. It is not intended for general weight loss or common obesity.

Imcivree is approved for: acquired hypothalamic obesity (HO) in patients aged 4 and older; Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS) in patients aged 2 and older; and obesity caused by confirmed deficiencies of POMC, PCSK1, or LEPR genes (pathogenic, likely pathogenic, or uncertain-significance variants) in patients aged 2 and older.
