Clopidogrel falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Canadian Fleabane interacts with.

Theoretically, Canadian fleabane might cause additive effects and side effects when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs. Canadian fleabane has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation in vitro.
Some anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the thing to keep in mind: Plavix (clopidogrel) already works by keeping your platelets from clumping together, which helps prevent clots after a stent, heart attack, or stroke. In lab studies, Canadian fleabane appears to slow platelet clumping too. So if you take both, the worry is that their blood-thinning effects could stack up and nudge you toward easier bruising or bleeding (think nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that take longer to stop).

I'll be honest with you, this concern is theoretical and based on test-tube findings, not on real patient studies, so we don't know how much it matters in everyday life. Still, since you're on Plavix for an important reason, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding fleabane rather than starting it on your own.

What Is Clopidogrel Used For?

Clopidogrel tablets are used to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in people with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) — including unstable angina and non-ST-elevation or ST-elevation heart attacks — and in people with a history of recent heart attack, recent stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease. For ACS, it is typically given alongside aspirin.

It works by preventing platelets (blood cells that trigger clotting) from clumping together, which helps keep arteries open and lowers the chance of a dangerous clot forming.
