Here's the simple version: your Jentadueto XR (a combo of linagliptin and metformin) already works to bring blood sugar down. Some early research hints that carnosine may lower fasting blood sugar a little on its own. So if you add it on top of your diabetes medicine, the two could stack up and push your sugar lower than you want.

To be fair, this is mostly a theoretical concern based on how carnosine might behave, and the human studies are mixed, so it may not happen for everyone. Still, keep an eye out for signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy. If you'd like to try carnosine, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can help you watch your numbers.

Carnosine is a naturally occurring dipeptide (made of beta-alanine and histidine) that acts as an antioxidant and buffer in muscle and brain. It is sold as an anti-aging and performance supplement, but human evidence for most uses is limited, and many studies actually use beta-alanine, its precursor. It appears generally well tolerated at common doses, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.
