Theoretically, carob might also impair the absorption of oral drugs.
Laboratory research shows that carob, when consumed as part of the diet or used as a thickening agent in infant formula, reduces the absorption of certain minerals. Take carob 30-60 minutes after oral medications.

Here's the gist for oral rivastigmine (Exelon capsules or solution): carob is loaded with tannins and fiber, and in lab studies that fiber can grab onto things in your gut and slow how well they're absorbed. The worry is that taking a big dose of carob right alongside your rivastigmine could blunt how much actually gets into your system, which in theory might make it work a little less for memory and thinking.

The honest part is that this is theoretical and based mostly on lab work, not real patient cases, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. A simple fix covers you: take your rivastigmine first, then enjoy carob 30 to 60 minutes later. The patch isn't affected this way at all. Anything new, just run it by your pharmacist.

Rivastigmine treats dementia — the memory loss, confusion, and thinking problems that come with certain brain diseases. The specific conditions it's approved for depend on the form.

Rivastigmine Tartrate capsules are approved for mild-to-moderate dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease or Parkinson's disease. The skin patch forms — including Exelon, Rivastigmine, and Rivastigmine Transdermal System — are approved for mild, moderate, and severe Alzheimer's disease dementia, as well as mild-to-moderate dementia associated with Parkinson's disease.
