Here's the gist with carob and your diclofenac. Carob is full of tannins and fiber, and lab studies suggest those compounds can bind to things in your gut and slow down how well they're absorbed. The concern here is that carob might do the same to a swallowed pill like diclofenac, meaning a bit less of your pain reliever could make it into your bloodstream. In practice that might mean your arthritis or pain relief feels a little weaker than expected.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on lab work, not real patient cases, so it's rated minor. An easy fix is spacing them out, taking your diclofenac first and waiting 30 to 60 minutes before having carob. If you use carob daily or in large amounts, mention it to your pharmacist.

Carob is a Mediterranean tree whose pods are widely used as a caffeine-free, naturally sweet cocoa alternative and as a thickener (carob gum). Diclofenac sodium topical gel is used to treat actinic keratoses (AK) — rough, scaly skin patches that form after years of sun exposure. These patches are considered precancerous, meaning they can develop into skin cancer if left untreated.

This is a topical gel, meaning it is applied directly to the skin over the affected area rather than taken by mouth. It belongs to the NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) family.
