Theoretically, taking cat's claw with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Cat's claw contains rhynchophylline. In vitro and animal research suggests that rhynchophylline can lower blood pressure. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the simple version: Olmesartan (Benicar) already lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. Cat's claw contains a natural compound called rhynchophylline that, at least in lab and animal studies, may nudge blood pressure down too. Stack the two together and the worry is that your pressure could drop a bit more than expected.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or a little woozy when you stand up quickly. I'll be honest with you though: this is a theoretical concern based on pharmacology, and it hasn't actually been reported in people. So don't panic. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before combining them, and mention any dizzy spells.

What Is Olmesartan Used For?

Brand names: Olmesartan Medoxomil, Benicar

Olmesartan treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and in children aged 6 years and older. It can be used alone or combined with other blood pressure medicines. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious events like stroke and heart attack.

It is available as Benicar and as generic olmesartan medoxomil tablets, including a combination tablet with hydrochlorothiazide. All of these products are used for high blood pressure.
