Here's the concern with pairing chaparral with your sodium valproate (Epilim). This isn't about chaparral changing how your medicine is broken down or how strong it is. Instead, it's about two things being hard on the same organ. Valproate already carries a known risk of liver injury on its own, and chaparral has been tied to serious, sometimes lasting liver and kidney damage. Stack them together and you may simply have more strain on the liver.

To be fair, this is a theoretical, anecdotal warning, not something proven in studies. Still, given how risky chaparral is by itself, I'd steer clear of it. Watch for yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and please check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding it.
