Chokeberry + Ibuprofen
Ibuprofen brand names: Motrin, Children's Motrin, Advil, Children's Advil, Fenbid Forte Gel, and others.
Chokeberry has a moderate interaction with Ibuprofen. Theoretically, chokeberry might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Ibuprofen
Ibuprofen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Chokeberry interacts with.
Clinical and in vitro research suggests that chokeberry extract can temporarily inhibit platelet aggregation and decrease clot formation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to keep in mind with this combo. Ibuprofen, like other NSAIDs, already nudges your body toward easier bleeding because it makes your platelets a little less sticky and can irritate the stomach lining. Chokeberry, according to some lab and clinical work, seems to do something similar by gently slowing how your platelets clump together. So you've got two things pulling in the same direction.
When you stack them, the realistic concern is more bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach upset and (rarely) stomach bleeding showing up as dark or bloody stools. This is mostly theoretical at supplement strength, and a little chokeberry juice or jam is unlikely to be a problem. If you take ibuprofen often and want to use concentrated chokeberry supplements, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ibuprofen page
“Most people treat ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) as an everyday pain reliever, which is exactly why this list of 286 interacting supplements deserves real attention rather than a shrug. The dominant pattern by far is bleeding: 202 of these ingredients can add to the bleeding and stomach irritation ibuprofen already causes, and the seven maj…”

About Chokeberry
What is Chokeberry?
- Antioxidant support
- Heart and blood vessel health
- Blood pressure support
- Blood sugar support
- Common cold symptoms
- Anti-inflammatory support
Chokeberry (aronia) is a dark berry rich in antioxidants called polyphenols, and it's widely eaten as juice, jam, and supplements. Early research hints it may support heart health, blood pressure, and blood sugar, but the evidence is still limited and far from proven. It's generally well tolerated as a food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.

Prescription ibuprofen tablets are used for signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, mild to moderate pain, and primary dysmenorrhea (painful periods). Caldolor (intravenous) is used in adults and children 3 months and older for mild to moderate pain, moderate to severe pain along with opioid medicines, and fever. Ibuprofen Lysine (intravenous) is used only to close a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA, a heart vessel that stays open) in certain premature infants.

Ibuprofen Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Ibuprofen as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Chokeberry — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
