Chokeberry + Bivalirudin
Bivalirudin brand names: Angiomax, Angiox, Angiomax Rtu.
Chokeberry has a moderate interaction with Bivalirudin. Theoretically, chokeberry might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.

ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Bivalirudin
Bivalirudin falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Chokeberry interacts with.
Clinical and in vitro research suggests that chokeberry extract can temporarily inhibit platelet aggregation and decrease clot formation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: bivalirudin (Angiomax) is a powerful blood thinner given through an IV in the hospital, usually during heart procedures like angioplasty. It works directly to block clotting, so its whole job is to keep your blood from forming clots.
Chokeberry, especially as a concentrated supplement, may also gently slow your platelets and reduce clotting on its own. Stack that on top of bivalirudin and you could nudge your bleeding risk a little higher, meaning more bruising, oozing at puncture sites, or harder-to-stop bleeding. This is mostly theoretical, based on lab and small studies, and food amounts like a little juice or jam are unlikely to matter. Still, since bivalirudin is used in a closely monitored hospital setting, mention any chokeberry supplements to your care team.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Bivalirudin page
“Bivalirudin (Angiomax) is a strong intravenous blood thinner used during heart procedures like angioplasty, and because bleeding is already its main built-in danger, this list deserves genuine care. All 202 supplements on it interact the same basic way: they thin the blood or blunt platelets themselves, stacking bleeding risk on top of…”

About Chokeberry
What is Chokeberry?
- Antioxidant support
- Heart and blood vessel health
- Blood pressure support
- Blood sugar support
- Common cold symptoms
- Anti-inflammatory support
Chokeberry (aronia) is a dark berry rich in antioxidants called polyphenols, and it's widely eaten as juice, jam, and supplements. Early research hints it may support heart health, blood pressure, and blood sugar, but the evidence is still limited and far from proven. It's generally well tolerated as a food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.
