Aripiprazole Lauroxil falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Coleus interacts with.

Theoretically, taking coleus might decrease serum levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that coleus can activate the nuclear receptor, pregnane X receptor (PXR), which results in increased expression of CYP3A4. Although the clinical significance of this is not known, use caution when considering concomitant use of coleus and other drugs affected by these enzymes.

Here's the idea behind this pairing. Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear aripiprazole. Lab studies suggest Coleus (forskolin) may nudge that enzyme to work a little harder, which could lower the amount of aripiprazole circulating in your blood. Since Aristada is a long-acting injection meant to hold steady levels for weeks, lower levels could mean your schizophrenia or bipolar symptoms aren't as well controlled.

I'll be honest with you though, this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube research, not real patients, so I don't want you to panic. Still, given how important steady coverage is with this shot, it's worth a quick chat with your prescriber or pharmacist before adding Coleus.
