Here's the gist for propranolol: this herb may work against your blood pressure and heart medicine if you take large amounts of it. The concern is that high doses of coltsfoot could nudge your blood pressure in the wrong direction, which would partly undercut what propranolol is trying to do (lower blood pressure, steady your heart rate, ease chest pain or migraines).

I want to be honest about how soft this is. It's theoretical and based only on anecdotal reports, not solid human studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The bigger issue is coltsfoot itself, since the raw plant can contain liver-toxic compounds. I'd steer clear unless a product is certified free of those, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining it with propranolol.

Coltsfoot is a traditional herb long used to soothe coughs and clear mucus, but solid human evidence for these uses is lacking. More importantly, the raw plant can contain liver-toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids, so it carries real safety concerns and is best avoided unless you use a product certified to be free of these compounds.

What Is Propranolol (Cardiovascular) Used For?

Brand names: Inderal LA, Inderal, Angilol, Syprol, Inderal Injection, Half-Inderal LA, Bedranol SR, Half Beta Prograne, Beta Prograne, Lopranol LA, Slo-Pro, InnoPran XL

This intravenous (IV) form of propranolol is used in hospital or clinical settings to treat dangerous heart rhythm problems. It is generally reserved for life-threatening arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms) or those that occur during anesthesia.

Specific conditions it treats include fast heart rates coming from the upper chambers of the heart (supraventricular tachycardia), certain arrhythmias caused by digitalis toxicity, dangerous ventricular rhythms that haven't responded to other treatments, and fast heart rates caused by excess adrenaline-like substances during surgery.
