Here's the simple version: indapamide is a water pill that helps lower your blood pressure and clear extra fluid. The concern with coltsfoot is that, in large amounts, it might work against blood pressure treatment, so your indapamide may not control your numbers as well as it should. You might notice blood pressure creeping up, or less of the benefit you're counting on.

I'll be honest with you though, this warning is theoretical and based only on weak, anecdotal reports, not solid human studies. The bigger issue with coltsfoot is that the raw plant can contain liver-toxic compounds, which is reason enough to be cautious. If you're thinking about using it, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Coltsfoot is a traditional herb long used to soothe coughs and clear mucus, but solid human evidence for these uses is lacking. More importantly, the raw plant can contain liver-toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids, so it carries real safety concerns and is best avoided unless you use a product certified to be free of these compounds.

What Is Indapamide Used For?

Brand names: Lozol, Lozide

Indapamide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), either on their own or together with other blood pressure medications. Lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of related complications.

Indapamide tablets are also used to treat salt and fluid retention (edema) associated with congestive heart failure. In certain cases, indapamide may also be appropriate during pregnancy when swelling is caused by a medical condition rather than normal pregnancy changes — but routine use in otherwise healthy pregnant women is not recommended.
