Indapamide falls under THIAZIDE DIURETICS — the group Vitamin D interacts with.

Theoretically, taking thiazide diuretics and high-dose vitamin D can increase the risk of hypercalcemia.
Thiazide diuretics decrease urinary calcium excretion, which could lead to hypercalcemia if vitamin D supplements are taken concurrently. This has been reported in people being treated with vitamin D for hypoparathyroidism, and also in elderly people with normal parathyroid function who were taking a thiazide, vitamin D, and calcium-containing antacids daily.

Here is the simple version: indapamide is a water pill that, along with lowering blood pressure, makes your kidneys hold onto a bit more calcium instead of flushing it out in urine. Vitamin D's main job is to help your body absorb more calcium from food. Put those two together at high vitamin D doses, and calcium levels in your blood can creep up too far, a problem called hypercalcemia.

This is mostly theoretical and based on a few reports, often in older folks also taking calcium-containing antacids, so most people on a normal vitamin D dose do fine. Still, watch for signs like nausea, constipation, frequent urination, or feeling unusually tired or confused. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting a high-dose vitamin D, and don't change anything on your own.

What Is Indapamide Used For?

Brand names: Lozol, Lozide

Indapamide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), either on their own or together with other blood pressure medications. Lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of related complications.

Indapamide tablets are also used to treat salt and fluid retention (edema) associated with congestive heart failure. In certain cases, indapamide may also be appropriate during pregnancy when swelling is caused by a medical condition rather than normal pregnancy changes — but routine use in otherwise healthy pregnant women is not recommended.
