Detoxification Footpads and Ezetimibe

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Ezetimibe and Detoxification Footpads in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Detoxification Footpads alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Detoxification Footpads at all — not against Ezetimibe, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Detoxification Footpads is used rather than swallowed. Ask your pharmacist or doctor whether it is appropriate alongside your medicines. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ezetimibe page

“Almost everything that interacts with ezetimibe (Zetia) works in the gut, and one entry calls for genuine care. Activated charcoal can soak up the drug before your body gets it, which for a cholesterol pill means quietly losing the protection you count on.”

About Detoxification Footpads

What is Detoxification Footpads?

  • Claimed body 'detox'
  • Removing 'toxins' through the feet
  • Promoting better sleep
  • Reducing fatigue or stress
  • Foot odor or general wellness

Detoxification footpads are adhesive patches placed on the feet overnight that are marketed to draw 'toxins' out of the body. There is no credible scientific evidence that they remove toxins or provide any real health benefit, and the dark residue they leave is widely shown to result from sweat and moisture reacting with the pad's ingredients, not from toxins. They are generally low-risk for skin irritation, but they should not replace proven medical care.

Not a plant; an adhesive pad applied to the skin of the feet · Adhesive footpads or patches (often containing wood vinegar, bamboo vinegar, tourmaline, and herbal powders)

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Detoxification Footpads is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Detoxification Footpads record says about it on its own.

Detoxification Footpads: dosing

There is no medically established dose for detox footpads, because they are not a proven treatment. Products typically instruct users to apply one pad to the sole of each foot at night and remove them in the morning. If you choose to try them, follow the directions on the package, do not leave them on longer than recommended, and apply them only to clean, intact skin. Because these products are not tightly regulated, ingredients and quality can vary between brands.

Zetia (a brand of ezetimibe) is specifically approved to lower LDL cholesterol in adults and children 10 and older with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (an inherited high-cholesterol condition), in adults with mixed hyperlipidemia (combined high cholesterol and triglycerides) when combined with fenofibrate, and in adults and children 10 and older with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (a severe inherited form). Ezetimibe tablets are also used to reduce elevated plant sterols (sitosterol and campesterol) in adults and children 9 and older with homozygous familial sitosterolemia, a rare inherited condition.
