Methamphetamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group English Ivy interacts with.

Theoretically, English ivy might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro research shows that English ivy inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist: prescription methamphetamine (Desoxyn) is partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. English ivy extract has been shown, in a test tube, to slow that same enzyme down. In theory, that could let methamphetamine build up a bit more than usual, which might mean stronger stimulant effects like a faster or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or feeling on edge.

The important part: this is only laboratory data, and it has never actually been reported in real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since this is a tightly dosed controlled medication, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding an ivy-based cough product, just to be safe.
