Entrectinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group European Barberry interacts with.

Theoretically, European barberry might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
There is very preliminary evidence suggesting that berberine, a constituent of European barberry, might inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. Theoretically, European barberry might have a similar effect.

Here's the thing about entrectinib (Rozlytrek): your body clears it using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Berberine, the main active compound in European barberry, may gently slow that same enzyme down. If it does, entrectinib could clear out more slowly and build up in your blood, which can mean stronger effects and more side effects than expected.

For entrectinib that's worth watching, since it can already cause things like dizziness, fatigue, swelling, and heart rhythm changes (a longer QT interval). I want to be honest though: this interaction is theoretical, based on early lab clues rather than real patient cases. Because entrectinib is a serious cancer medicine, please don't add barberry without checking with your oncology team or pharmacist first.

About Entrectinib

What Is Entrectinib Used For?

Brand name: Rozlytrek

Rozlytrek (entrectinib) is used to treat adult patients with ROS1-positive metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), as confirmed by an FDA-approved test. It is also approved for adult and pediatric patients older than 1 month of age who have solid tumors — any cancer type — that carry an NTRK gene fusion detected by an FDA-approved test, provided the tumor has no known acquired resistance mutation, is metastatic or cannot be surgically removed without severe harm, and has progressed after prior treatment or has no satisfactory alternative therapy.

The NTRK gene fusion approval in solid tumors was granted under accelerated approval, meaning it is based on tumor response rates. Continued approval may depend on results from confirmatory clinical trials.
