Homatropine Methylbromide, Hydrocodone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group False Unicorn interacts with.

In vitro, false unicorn extract inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) activity. Theoretically, false unicorn might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates. Some of drugs that are CYP2D6 substrates include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.

Here's the wrinkle with Hycodan: the hydrocodone part is actually a prodrug in one sense. Your liver enzyme called CYP2D6 turns hydrocodone into hydromorphone, a stronger painkiller. In lab dishes (not in people), False Unicorn has been shown to slow down that same CYP2D6 enzyme. So in theory, it could blunt how much of that stronger form gets made, possibly making the cough or pain relief feel weaker.

But honestly, this is very weak evidence, only from test-tube studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Hydrocodone still works through other pathways too. Since False Unicorn's safety isn't well studied anyway, just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before combining them.

In vitro, false unicorn extract inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity. Theoretically, false unicorn might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates. Drugs that might be affected include some calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, nicardipine, verapamil), chemotherapeutic agents (etoposide, paclitaxel, vinblastine, vincristine, vindesine), antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), glucocorticoids, cisapride (Propulsid), alfentanil (Alfenta), fentanyl (Sublimaze), losartan (Cozaar), fluoxetine (Prozac), midazolam (Versed), omeprazole (Prilosec), ondansetron (Zofran), propranolol (Inderal), fexofenadine (Allegra), and numerous others.

Hycodan combines hydrocodone (a narcotic cough suppressant) with homatropine. Hydrocodone is partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dish studies (not in people), False Unicorn appears to slow that same enzyme down. The worry, in theory, is that with the enzyme working slower, hydrocodone could build up a bit more than usual, leaning toward stronger effects like extra drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, or slowed breathing.

I want to be honest though: this is based only on test-tube data, so the real-world risk is uncertain and may be small. Still, since this is an opioid and safety matters, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, and never adjust your medicine on your own.
