Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Polatuzumab Vedotin-Piiq
Polatuzumab Vedotin-Piiq falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group False Unicorn interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for Polivy. This is a powerful antibody-drug conjugate used for lymphoma, and after it enters your body its toxic payload (a piece called MMAE) is partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. False Unicorn has shown, in a test tube only, that it can slow that same enzyme down. In theory, if it slowed the breakdown of Polivy's payload, more could linger in your system. That could mean worse side effects like numbness or tingling in the hands and feet (neuropathy), low blood counts, infections, fatigue, or nausea.
The important caveat: this is based only on lab data, not real people, so it's far from proven. Still, with a chemotherapy this serious, I wouldn't take chances. Please clear any supplement with your oncology team before using it.
