Trimetrexate Glucuronate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group False Unicorn interacts with.

In vitro, false unicorn extract inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity. Theoretically, false unicorn might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates. Drugs that might be affected include some calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, nicardipine, verapamil), chemotherapeutic agents (etoposide, paclitaxel, vinblastine, vincristine, vindesine), antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), glucocorticoids, cisapride (Propulsid), alfentanil (Alfenta), fentanyl (Sublimaze), losartan (Cozaar), fluoxetine (Prozac), midazolam (Versed), omeprazole (Prilosec), ondansetron (Zofran), propranolol (Inderal), fexofenadine (Allegra), and numerous others.

Trimetrexate is a strong chemotherapy-type medicine, usually given in the hospital for serious pneumonia in people who can't tolerate other treatments. Your liver partly clears it using an enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab (test tube) studies, False Unicorn appears to slow down that same enzyme. The worry is mostly theoretical, but if it held true in people, your body might clear trimetrexate a little more slowly, letting more of it build up.

With a drug this potent, higher levels can mean more of its known side effects, like low blood counts, mouth sores, nausea, and irritation of the liver or kidneys. Because the evidence here is weak (only lab data) and this drug is carefully dosed by your care team, please don't add False Unicorn without first checking with your oncology pharmacist or doctor.
