Why this applies to Beclometasone dipropionate

Beclometasone dipropionate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Fo-ti interacts with.

Theoretically, fo-ti might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research suggests that fo-ti might inhibit CYP3A4. One in vitro study suggests that the degree of CYP3A4 inhibition may depend on the type of fo-ti extract (i.e., the raw plant leads to greater inhibition than extensively processed extracts). However, this evidence conflicts with animal research suggesting that fo-ti does not inhibit CYP3A4. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with beclometasone (Becotide): your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear this steroid. Fo-ti might slow that enzyme down, at least in lab dishes, which in theory could let more beclometasone hang around. That could mean a bit more steroid exposure than expected, and with higher steroid levels people sometimes see things like a sore or white-coated mouth (thrush), hoarseness, or, with a lot over time, the usual steroid side effects.

That said, this is theoretical and only comes from lab and animal work, with results that even disagree with each other. It hasn't been reported in real people, and inhaled beclometasone delivers a fairly low dose. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but do mention the Fo-ti to your pharmacist or doctor.
