Fo-ti + Butalbital, Phenobarbital, Secobarbital
Butalbital, Phenobarbital, Secobarbital brand name: Tribarb.
Fo-ti has a moderate interaction with Butalbital, Phenobarbital, Secobarbital. Theoretically, fo-ti might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2B6.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 2B6 (CYP2B6) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Butalbital, Phenobarbital, Secobarbital
Butalbital, Phenobarbital, Secobarbital falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2B6 (CYP2B6) SUBSTRATES — the group Fo-ti interacts with.
Animal research suggests that fo-ti might inhibit CYP2B6. One in vitro study suggests that the degree of CYP2B6 inhibition may depend on the type of fo-ti extract (i.e., the raw plant leads to greater inhibition than extensively processed extracts). However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for barbiturates like butalbital, phenobarbital, and secobarbital. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2B6 to help clear these drugs out. Lab and animal studies hint that Fo-ti (especially the raw, less-processed root) might slow that enzyme down. If that happened in people, these medicines could build up a bit more than expected, possibly leaving you more drowsy, foggy, dizzy, or unsteady than usual. These are not prodrugs, so blocking the enzyme tends to increase their effect, not weaken it.
That said, this is theoretical only and hasn't actually been reported in humans yet. Barbiturates have a narrow safety margin, though, so it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Butalbital, Phenobarbital, Secobarbital page
“Barbiturates leave little margin for error, and the butalbital, phenobarbital, and secobarbital combination sold as Tribarb is no exception, so its 151 supplement and herbal interactions deserve genuine care. Seventy-eight of those ingredients deepen the drug's sedation, which at the worst end means dangerously slowed breathing.”
