Here's the simple version: Janumet combines two diabetes medicines, metformin and sitagliptin, that already work to lower your blood sugar. Fo-ti has been reported to have its own mild blood-sugar-lowering effect. So when you stack them together, the worry is that your sugar could dip a little lower than expected. This isn't a hard fact, though. It's a theoretical concern based on how Fo-ti seems to behave, not proven by solid human studies.

If your numbers do run low, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, hungry, or unusually tired. Just keep an eye on your readings and watch for those signs. Don't change your Janumet on your own. Have a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Fo-ti, especially since Fo-ti has also been linked to liver issues.
