Lacosamide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Fucus Vesiculosus interacts with.
In vitro research shows that fucoidan, a constituent of Fucus vesiculosus, inhibits CYP2C9. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with bladderwrack and your Vimpat. One compound in this seaweed, called fucoidan, has been shown in lab dish studies only to slow down a liver enzyme (CYP2C9) that helps clear lacosamide from your body. In theory, if that enzyme is blocked, lacosamide could build up a bit and you might feel more of its usual side effects, things like dizziness, drowsiness, blurred or double vision, or feeling unsteady on your feet.
I want to be honest though: this has never actually been reported in real people, and lacosamide isn't strongly dependent on that one enzyme. So the real-world risk is likely small. Still, since bladderwrack's iodine can also stir up thyroid trouble, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for Vimpat (lacosamide) and bladderwrack. One compound in bladderwrack, called fucoidan, slowed down a liver enzyme (CYP3A4) in test-tube studies. Lacosamide is partly cleared by that enzyme and is active on its own (it isn't a prodrug), so in theory blocking the enzyme could let a little more lacosamide build up. If that happened, you might notice more of its usual effects, like dizziness, drowsiness, blurry or double vision, headache, or nausea.
I want to be honest though: this is only a lab finding and has never actually been reported in people, so the real-world risk looks small. Still, because bladderwrack also carries a lot of iodine, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

What Is Lacosamide Used For?
Brand names: Vimpat, Motpoly XR
Lacosamide is used to treat partial-onset seizures (seizures that start in one part of the brain) in adults and children. The age at which it is approved depends on the specific product: Vimpat tablets, oral solution, and injection are approved for partial-onset seizures in patients as young as 1 month old; most other formulations are approved from age 4 and up; and Motpoly XR is approved for patients weighing at least 50 kg.
Lacosamide is also used as adjunctive (add-on) therapy for primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures (grand mal seizures involving the whole brain) in adults and children 4 years of age and older, including Motpoly XR for patients weighing at least 50 kg.
