Garlic + Bendroflumethiazide
Bendroflumethiazide brand names: Naturetin, Aprinox, Neo-NaClex.
Garlic has a moderate interaction with Bendroflumethiazide. Theoretically, taking garlic with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.

ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Bendroflumethiazide
Bendroflumethiazide falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Garlic interacts with.
In human research, both garlic and garlic extracts have blood pressure-lowering effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Bendroflumethiazide is a thiazide water pill that helps lower blood pressure by flushing out extra salt and fluid. Garlic, especially in concentrated supplement form, can gently nudge blood pressure down too. Put the two together and those effects can add up, so in theory your blood pressure could dip a bit lower than expected.
If that happens, you might notice things like lightheadedness, dizziness when you stand up quickly, or feeling unusually tired. I want to be straight with you, though: this concern is theoretical, based on how each one works rather than strong studies, and garlic used in normal cooking amounts is very unlikely to matter. If you want to take a garlic supplement, just check in with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on your readings.

“Bendroflumethiazide, a thiazide water pill prescribed for high blood pressure, sits at the serious end of the interaction spectrum, and the ten major-rated entries deserve attention first. Most of the 227 supplements on file either stack their own blood-pressure-lowering effect on top of the drug's or deepen the potassium loss it alrea…”

About Garlic
What is Garlic?
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Heart health
- Immune support and common cold
- Antimicrobial uses
Garlic is a common food and supplement that may modestly help with blood pressure and cholesterol, though the evidence is mixed and effects are usually small. It is generally safe in food amounts, but concentrated supplements can cause stomach upset, breath and body odor, and a higher risk of bleeding. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before taking garlic supplements, especially if you take other medicines.
