Abrocitinib falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Greater Celandine interacts with.

Preliminary clinical research suggests that taking a specific semi-synthetic derivative of the greater celandine constituent chelidonine (Ukrain; not available in North America) might stimulate immune responses in cancer patients. Theoretically, taking greater celandine might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), and other corticosteroids (glucocorticoids).

Here's the idea behind this pairing. Abrocitinib (Cibinqo) works by calming down part of your immune system to ease eczema. Greater celandine, on the other hand, may nudge the immune system in the opposite direction, toward being more active. So in theory, taking the herb could work against what Cibinqo is trying to do and make your eczema harder to control, with more itching, dryness, and flare-ups.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical concern, based mostly on a lab-made celandine derivative not even sold here, not on real-world studies with Abrocitinib. The bigger worry, frankly, is that greater celandine has been tied to serious liver injury. I'd skip it and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding any supplement.

What Is Abrocitinib Used For?

Brand name: Cibinqo

Cibinqo (abrocitinib) is used to treat moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults and children 12 years of age and older. It is specifically for people whose eczema has not been adequately controlled with other systemic (whole-body) treatments, including biologics, or when those treatments are not a safe option.

Cibinqo is not recommended to be used at the same time as other JAK inhibitors, biologic immunomodulators, or other immunosuppressants (medicines that reduce immune system activity).
