Here's the thing to know with guar gum and your mirtazapine: that thick fiber gel can grab onto medications in your gut and slow or block how much gets absorbed. Mirtazapine isn't a prodrug, so it doesn't need that step to activate. The concern is simply that less of it may get into your system, which could make it work a little less well for your mood.

A simple fix is spacing them out, taking your mirtazapine first and the guar gum about 30 to 60 minutes later. What Is Mirtazapine Used For?

Mirtazapine tablets, mirtazapine orally disintegrating tablets, Remeron, and RemeronsолTab are all indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults. Major depressive disorder involves a persistently low or sad mood most days, often accompanied by loss of interest, sleep changes, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating.

The effectiveness of mirtazapine tablets in maintaining a response for up to 40 weeks after an initial treatment period has also been demonstrated. Patients should be reassessed periodically to determine whether continued treatment is needed.
