Here's the thing to know about pairing guar gum with Belsomra (suvorexant). Guar gum is a gel-forming fiber, and once it's in your stomach it can grab onto medications and slow how much actually gets absorbed. If less suvorexant makes it into your system, you may notice it just doesn't work as well, meaning you have a harder time falling asleep or staying asleep. Suvorexant is not a prodrug, so this is simply a matter of reduced absorption, not a flipped effect.

The easy fix most experts suggest is spacing them out: take your suvorexant first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before the guar gum. Since suvorexant is a bedtime medicine, that timing can get tricky, so check with your pharmacist or doctor on the best plan for you.
