Flibanserin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Guggul interacts with.

Theoretically, guggul might reduce the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that guggul constituents known as guggulsterones can induce CYP3A4.

Here's the gist for Addyi (flibanserin). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break this medicine down. Lab and animal research hints that guggul may speed that enzyme up, which could clear flibanserin out a bit faster than usual. In plain terms, that might mean it works less well for boosting sexual desire, the very reason you'd be taking it.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is only test-tube and animal data, so it's more of a theoretical concern than something we've clearly seen in real patients. Still, before adding guggul, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor so they can weigh it for your situation.

What Is Flibanserin Used For?

Brand name: Addyi

Addyi is approved to treat acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) — a condition where low sexual desire causes significant distress or relationship difficulty — in women under 65. "Acquired" means the low desire developed after a period of normal desire; "generalized" means it happens regardless of the situation or partner.

Addyi is not intended for use in men, and it is not a sexual performance enhancer. It is also not meant for HSDD that is caused by a medical condition, a psychiatric condition, relationship problems, or another medication.
