    “The HCG diet can cause edema, thromboembolism, ascites, and pleural effusion. In a case report, a 64-year-old female presented to the emergency room with a deep venous thrombosis and a pulmonary embolism after taking 20 drops of HCG sublingually twice daily for 2 weeks. The patient was treated with anticoagulants and started on chronic warfarin therapy.”

In one case report, a patient developed refeeding syndrome, including severe muscle weakness, nausea, hypophosphatemia, hypokalemia, elevated creatine kinase, and ST-segment depression with marked U waves, after taking HCG 1000 IU subcutaneous daily and restricting food consumption to less than 500 calories per day for 3 weeks.”

There is no good scientific evidence that hCG helps with weight loss or hunger, and the FDA has not approved it for this use; any weight lost comes from the extreme calorie restriction, which can be dangerous. What Is Dextroamphetamine Used For?

Brand name: Dexedrine

Dextroamphetamine treats two conditions: ADHD and narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness). It is available in multiple forms — tablets, extended-release capsules, oral solution, and a skin patch — and the approved age ranges vary by product.

Oral tablets (Zenzedi, generic) and oral solutions (Procentra, generic) are approved for ADHD in children as young as 3 years old and for narcolepsy. Extended-release capsules (Dexedrine, generic) are approved for ADHD in children ages 6 to 16 and for narcolepsy. Xelstrym, the transdermal patch, is approved only for ADHD — in adults and children ages 6 and older — and is not indicated for narcolepsy.
