In a case report, a 64-year-old female presented to the emergency room with a deep venous thrombosis and a pulmonary embolism after taking 20 drops of HCG sublingually twice daily for 2 weeks. The patient was treated with anticoagulants and started on chronic warfarin therapy.”

The HCG diet pairs a very low-calorie diet (often around 500 calories a day) with human chorionic gonadotropin, a pregnancy hormone, and claims to cause fast, targeted fat loss. There is no good scientific evidence that hCG helps with weight loss or hunger, and the FDA has not approved it for this use; any weight lost comes from the extreme calorie restriction, which can be dangerous. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before trying any HCG product.

About Gabapentin

What Is Gabapentin Used For?

Brand names: Neurontin, Gralise

Gabapentin (brands include Neurontin, Relgaabi, Gabarone, Gralise, and Horizant) is primarily used to manage postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) — the nerve pain that lingers after a shingles outbreak — in adults. Neurontin, Relgaabi, Gabarone, and gabapentin capsules, tablets, and oral solution are also used as add-on therapy for partial onset seizures (a type of epilepsy) in adults and children aged 3 and older.

Horizant (gabapentin enacarbil extended-release tablet) has two specific approvals: treatment of moderate-to-severe primary restless legs syndrome (RLS) in adults, and management of postherpetic neuralgia in adults. Horizant is not recommended for people who need to sleep during the day and stay awake at night. Gralise is approved only for postherpetic neuralgia and cannot be substituted for other gabapentin products due to its different release profile.
